What is Kablow?
Kablow! is a free, game-based learning platform for classrooms. Teachers choose a topic — or generate one with AI — and share a join code. Students answer curriculum questions to explore a shared open world, where they fish, battle, tame creatures and collect avatar skins as they learn. Every ready-made topic is curriculum-aligned, hand-designed and grounded in proven learning science, and Kablow! supports live review games, revision and full class activities.
Is Kablow free?
Yes. Kablow! is free for both teachers and students. Students earn in-game currency by answering questions and spend it on avatar skins and cosmetics. There are no real-money purchases and no paid loot boxes.
Do students need an account to play?
No. Students join a live game with a teacher's join code — no account required. A free account simply saves their avatar, progress and collected skins between sessions.
How is Kablow different from Blooket, Gimkit and Kahoot?
Like those platforms, Kablow! runs live multiplayer review games powered by your questions. Two things set it apart: • A shared open world. Instead of a menu of separate mini-games, students explore one persistent world together — fishing, battling and taming creatures — so a review session feels like an adventure, not a quiz screen. • Purpose-built content. What subjects and grade levels does Kablow support?
Kablow! works with any subject — if a topic has questions, your class can play it. Ready-made revision resources cover IGCSE, IB, GCSE, A-Level, KS3, NGSS and Australian Science, and teachers can write their own questions or generate a complete topic with AI in seconds.
Do teachers have to write their own questions?
No. Teachers can generate a complete topic with AI in seconds, choose from ready-made revision topics, or author their own questions. Any topic can run as a live game or be assigned as classwork.
Is Kablow safe for students?
Yes. Kablow! is designed with student privacy in mind and built to be COPPA-aware: • It collects minimal student information. • Students can join by code without creating an account. • Every in-game reward is earned through play — there are no real-money purchases and no paid loot boxes. • Student data is never sold and never used for advertising. What is Scaffolding, and what learning science is it based on?
Scaffolding is how Kablow! helps a student who is stuck. If a student keeps missing questions on a topic, Kablow! looks for the earlier skill that topic depends on and mixes a short review of it into their session. The extra help stops once they are answering reliably again. It works because knowledge builds on itself. A struggle at the surface usually traces back to something earlier that never landed, so Kablow! follows its knowledge graph to that skill and rehearses it. That is scaffolded instruction and mastery learning, applied without a teacher having to spot the gap first. The same struggle signals show up on your class dashboard.
How does Kablow's Spaced Repetition work, and why?
Spaced Repetition is the review system built into Kablow! It records the questions a student gets wrong and pushes them back to that student later in the same session, at a pause between activities rather than mid-task. Answering it the second time from memory is the part that sticks. Recalling an answer does far more for memory than re-reading it, and leaving a gap before that recall does more than asking again straight away. So a missed question returns after a short break, and again after a longer one if the student is still unsure.
