Notes de leçon
Healthy lifestyle
- Llevar una vida sana means lead a healthy life, comer sano eat healthily, hacer deporte do sport, dormir sleep, descansar rest and evitar el estrés avoid stress. Intento comer de forma equilibrada expresses I try to eat in a balanced way.
- These are language examples, not a prescribed routine. Dormir lo suficiente means get enough sleep without asserting one duration for every learner. Do not turn a vocabulary list into fixed sleep, water or weight targets.
Express a lifestyle aim
Health problems
- El tabaco tobacco, el alcohol alcohol, el estrés stress and las drogas drugs are contextual vocabulary. Fumar tabaco means smoke tobacco; WHO identifies tobacco use as harmful to health. This lesson does not diagnose a person or give a treatment.
- Me duele la cabeza means my head hurts; me duele el estómago my stomach hurts. Me duelen los pies uses plural duelen because los pies is the grammatical subject. Me identifies the affected person; a symptom phrase does not state its cause.
Doler agrees with the body part
Advice
- Deberías descansar uses tú conditional deber plus infinitive to offer a suggestion. Es mejor descansar expresses it is better to rest; te aconsejo descansar I advise you to rest. These are sample constructions rather than individual clinical advice.
- Debes descansar can also express advice but is not the conditional form. Match the subject and form actually requested. Tone and context affect politeness; a conditional ending is not an automatic guarantee of a polite interaction.
Choose the requested advice form
Volunteering
- El voluntariado volunteering, ser voluntario or voluntaria be a volunteer, ayudar a los demás help others, recoger ropa collect clothing and limpiar la playa clean the beach describe possible roles. Personas mayores means older people in the community-visiting context.
- Fictional model: El sábado hice voluntariado. Recogí ropa y aprendí a trabajar en equipo. Hice and recogí present completed actions. He hecho voluntariado is another past construction; the reported learning is an attributed experience, not a guaranteed result for every volunteer.

Charity events
- Una carrera benéfica means a charity race in a running-event context; un concierto benéfico charity concert; una organización benéfica charity. Carrera can instead mean career or a course of study in another context.
- Recaudar dinero means raise money; donar ropa donate clothing. Organizamos una carrera para recaudar dinero states the purpose with para plus infinitive. No real donation, event registration or personal experience is required.
Use charity-event vocabulary
International events
- Los Juegos Olímpicos Olympic Games, el Mundial de fútbol football World Cup, el Tour de Francia Tour de France and el Festival de Eurovisión Eurovision Song Contest name international events. Mundial can refer to another world championship or mean worldwide as an adjective.
- Fictional report: Ayer vi un partido del Mundial en la tele. Vi is preterite ver, with no accent. An event may bring people together, but a speaker’s claim or potential benefit is not a universal outcome. No current dates, hosts or results are given here.
Name an international event
The Spanish-speaking world
- España Spain, México Mexico, Argentina Argentina, Colombia Colombia, Perú Peru, Chile Chile, Cuba Cuba and Guatemala Guatemala are useful country names. Spanish is widely used across these countries; this does not imply every resident has the same first language.
- Spanish speakers and learners also live in the United States, Brazil and many other countries. Respect multilingual communities and do not infer a person’s identity or language from appearance, a name or nationality alone.
Match the country names
Media
- Las noticias means the news, el periódico newspaper, la prensa the press and un programa de televisión a TV programme. Periódico as an adjective can mean periodic, while programa can also refer to a plan or software.
- Original reading: Ayer vi un partido en la tele. Mi amiga leyó las noticias en el periódico. The speaker watched the match and the friend read the news; complete clauses establish the actor and time.
Track the actor in the media report
