Frequently asked questions
What Kablow! is, what it costs, and how it works in class.
- Can I learn on Kablow without a class?
- Yes. Explore the public topic library and try learning games without a class code. Existing learner accounts can also use the study room and track their work independently. Direct learner email registration is currently closed while the permission process is developed; educators can issue managed learner logins.
- Do I have to enter the game world to learn?
- No. The game world is an optional learning pathway. You can explore learning resources and practice, choose learning games, or enter a world adventure. Gaming and progression remain central to Kablow across its learning experience.
- What is Kablow?
- Kablow! brings learning and gaming together for learners of all ages. Explore curriculum-aligned topics, study notes and slides, practise questions and choose learning games or an open world adventure. Learn independently, prepare for exams or learn with an educator. Educators can also organise classes, guide learning and host shared activities. Progression, challenges and rewards are central to the Kablow experience; the game world is one optional learning pathway.
- Is Kablow free?
- Yes. Kablow! is free for both educators and learners, with no time limit. Learners earn in-game currency by answering questions and spend it on costumes and other cosmetics. There are no real-money purchases and no paid loot boxes, and learners never pay for anything. Educators who want more can add Educator Pro, which brings battle-pass rewards for their learners, up to 5 classes and 100 learners, unlimited subjects, and uncapped access to the curriculum library.
- Do learners need an account to play?
- No. Learners join a live game with an educator's join code — no account required. A free account simply saves their avatar, progress and unlocked costumes between sessions.
- How is Kablow different from Blooket, Gimkit and Kahoot?
- Like those platforms, Kablow! runs live multiplayer review games powered by your questions. Two things set it apart: • A shared open world. Instead of a menu of separate mini-games, learners explore one persistent world together — fishing, battling and taming creatures — so a review session feels like an adventure, not a quiz screen. • Purpose-built content. Every ready-made topic is curriculum-aligned, hand-designed and grounded in established learning science for lasting retention — not generic quiz questions attached to a game.
- What subjects and grade levels does Kablow support?
- Kablow! works with any subject — if a topic has questions, your class can play it. Ready-made revision resources cover IGCSE, IB, GCSE, A-Level, KS3, NGSS and Australian Science, and educators can write their own questions or generate a complete topic with AI in seconds.
- Do educators have to write their own questions?
- No. Educators can generate a complete topic with AI in seconds, choose from ready-made revision topics, or author their own questions. Any topic can run as a live game or be assigned as classwork.
- What is Educator Pro, and how do I get it?
- Educator Pro is the paid tier for educators. Teaching itself is free: every educator gets an always-on class world, adaptive scaffolding and interactive notes. Pro adds up to 5 classes and 100 learners, unlimited subjects, sessions that span several topics, every world map, and uncapped access to the curriculum library. It also fills the battle pass — learners earn XP toward its 48 rewards while they play in a Pro educator's world or session. There are two ways to get it free right now. You can simply ask us and we will switch Pro on for your account. You can also refer another educator: they start with a month of Pro, and once their class is up and running you get a year. Full details are at kablow.education/pricing.
- Is Kablow safe for learners?
- Yes. Kablow! is designed with learner privacy in mind and built to be COPPA-aware: • It collects minimal learner information. • Learners can join by code without creating an account. • Every in-game reward is earned through play — there are no real-money purchases and no paid loot boxes. • Learner data is never sold and never used for advertising. The full privacy policy at kablow.education/privacy explains exactly what is collected and why.
- What is Scaffolding, and what learning science is it based on?
- Scaffolding is how Kablow! helps a learner who is stuck. If a learner keeps missing questions on a topic, Kablow! looks for the earlier skill that topic depends on and mixes a short review of it into their session. The extra help stops once they are answering reliably again. It works because knowledge builds on itself. A struggle at the surface usually traces back to something earlier that never landed, so Kablow! follows its knowledge graph to that skill and rehearses it. That is scaffolded instruction and mastery learning, applied without an educator having to spot the gap first. The same struggle signals show up on your class dashboard.
- How does Kablow's Spaced Repetition work, and why?
- Spaced Repetition is the review system built into Kablow! It records the questions a learner gets wrong and pushes them back to that learner later in the same session, at a pause between activities rather than mid-task. Answering it the second time from memory is the part that sticks. Recalling an answer does far more for memory than re-reading it, and leaving a gap before that recall does more than asking again straight away. So a missed question returns after a short break, and again after a longer one if the learner is still unsure.
